Valerie Gonzalez

OUTREACH LEAD

Valerie is a longtime valley resident. She devoted her life to Christ at the age of twelve. Her family moved here from California and she completed high school in Phoenix. Her first job was at a prominent pediatrician’s office where she worked her way up. She married young and had three children - Manny, Amos and Rebeca - after suffering from infertility for seven years. Unfortunately, her first marriage ended. And after her divorce she was compelled to start Hope4moms - a single mom support group.

Hope4moms has proven to be a valuable support system for the community for over 12 years.

Valerie’s lifetime passion for education prompted her to complete an Associates degree in Elementary Education and complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration - all while being a single mom. She has worked in the Phoenix school system for over eighteen years as a school teacher, community liaison and administrative support.

After a decade of single life, Valerie married Jose Gonzalez during the beginning of the pandemic in May 2020. Not many can say their wedding festivities included a drive thru bridal shower since the world shut down during most of Jose and Valerie’s engagement. They now share a large, blended family in Peoria, AZ which includes Jose’s daughter’s: Claudia and Elizabeth. Their blended family serves the community in the realms of ministry, education, law enforcement and nursing.

Jose and Valerie support the community through ministries that include the Annual Law Enforcement & Firefighters Prayer Breakfast. In her free time she enjoys traveling with her husband and taking care of their goldendoodle, Darla.

Valerie believes that everyone should have someone in their corner cheering for them. She strives to be that cheerleader for single moms and students.
